Devin is an Elder

Devin was ordained an Elder by his Father, Garrin Ellis. It was a really special day for all of us!

Why Take OUT the Wisdom?

Teeth---that is. Yesterday, Devin had all 4 wisdom teeth... leaving him.......... ummm...... wisdomless? Just kidding Devin! He had 2 that were partially in, 1 barely coming up and 1 impacted. They only worked on him for a mere 20-30 min to get all that done. Now comes the fun part!

First of all--he HAD to have the hat back immediately--even though he was suppose to be laying down. The phone came next---INSISTING he needed to text. Wow...sorry to whomever he was texting...hope it made sense! Then they asked him to lay on his right side. Well, Devin having had a little medical training, points to his head and says "recovery position....I remember". Well....I'm getting a good kick out of him, but it's not over yet!

He says "Wow, I just had a POWER nap!" and then..."give me my coat." Well----considering that he can't actually put it ON and he has 2 blankets anyway...and I'm FREEZING....I say "no..you're ok" to which he responds " I paid for that coat with my OWN money." Wow was he out of it. I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. He wanted to sit up within 10 min and was bugging me to go home. When they wheel him out to the car in a wheelchair, he says "I'm actually feeling just fine---I can drive if you want." HA! Fat chance buddy!


Here he is today---not really too swollen! He's doing pretty good and not feeling much pain. Matter of fact---he's bouncing off the walls.

Funny Feet

While Devin was watching TV the other day, I took this picture of his feet. I think it's SOOO funny how he has a HUGE tan line where his shoes and socks go. Maybe I'm just jealous! I don't have tan lines. :) I think I'm the ONLY member of this family that really cannot tan. Garrin has olive skin, and the girls and Devin all seem to tan pretty good so far.

Happy Birthday Devin!

Can't believe I have a 19 year old! He says that I'm getting old...but I think it's just him. We sure miss him while he's gone all week working! He is working at Anderson Windows in Springville. He installs window well covers . They are based out of Springville but for the last 3 wks they've been sending him out to Denver to work. His best friend also goes--so I'm sure they're having a great time when they aren't working! He's excited because he gets his own suite at the hotel, they have a workout room, a pool and hot tub and he gets $30 a day for meals. He thinks he's in heaven! They leave Monday morning, work Tues-Thurs and 1/2 day Friday and then head home. It's about an 8 hour drive one way so that's a long drive to do twice each week!

Anyway---Devin has sure grown this last year. ..he's turning into a young man. He's a good kid and we love him lots! Now..if he'd quit spending money---his mother might not have quite so many gray hairs! That is his one major fault....I'm sure he'll appreciate me pointing it out :) He's a spender---that boy! We sure have fun with him though (when he is home). It's hard to keep him home as he loves to be hanging out with friends!

Bad Luck Bears

Well....we seem to be having a string of back luck this week.

Devin is in SLC Thursday night and someone broke into his car. They smashed the driver's side window and stole his stereo/deck, broke his AC circuit board and stole his Ipod. They did about $1500 damage to the car plus the ipod that the insurance would not cover. We initially thought that his laptop had been stolen too. He had it on the backseat under his backpack which contained his digital camera. It was gone. The next day at about 11am he FOUND the laptop under the passenger seat of the car. WOW. We can't figure out how it got under there---but he's so grateful not to have lost it.

The guy in the car next to him was also broken into....also through smashing the window. He also lost his deck and Ipod. But, unfortunately for him, he also had his wallet in there with $500 cash, credit cards, driver's license and social security card. Devin exchanged numbers with him and found out that someone found his wallet minus the cash and ONE credit card the next morning. Amazing! What a "lucky" guy.

Next thing that qualifies us for the bad news bears.....Devin woke us up at 7:30 this morning throwing up and in a lot of pain. Good thing for us that the instacare opened at 8:00 out in Saratoga Springs. I didn't have an extra $150 laying around for the ER. It looks like his kidney stones are baaaccckk!!! Ugh!!! Not fun stuff.
