Kaylee

Kaylee and her friend took pictures and I thought I'd post my favorite 2. She loves to take and edit pictures and is really great at it.

Homecoming Date

Shawnee got asked to Homecoming this year. She'll have to write more details, but she went with JD who is also on the Ballroom team with her. He picked her up at noon and they went boating all day, and then the dance was that night. Here are a few quick photos I took before they left.

Duct Tape Day

This year at the High School, they had "Duct Tape Day" where you dress up. Here are a few pictures of Shawnee. Unfortunately, Kaylee didn't take any pictures of herself and I was at work.

Labor Day Bike Ride

How can I choose just ONE or two photos from our day's journey??? It was so much fun. We met as soon as Devin got off work around noon (and before he had to go back again). Connie and Kiera came with us. We went to the Geneva Road entrance and rode the bike trail all the way out to Utah Lake.

We had a little mix-up on meeting places, so the girls ate their sandwiches early and threw the extra bread to the ducks while we waited for Devin to get there.

Once we got out to the lake, it made a GREAT backdrop for a few pictures.

Shawnee waded in the edge of the water while Devin and Garrin skipped rocks.

We rode around the long narrow stretches of land that jet out into the water and watched the boats and jet skis. On the way back to the car, we took more time and took lots of photos.

When we got back to the car, we ate our picnic lunch at a picnic table and rested. Devin had to get back to work so we took Connie and Kiera back to the apartment before heading home. What a fun day!!!

First Day of School 2010!

The girls did a GREAT job of getting up and ready and OFF to school this year. I had to be at work at 6:30, so I missed the getting ready and helping part! Bummer! They even took pictures as I requested!!! Shawnee is a Senior this year, Kaylee a sophomore, and Jaycee in 6th grade. What cute girls!!! Garrin was home and was able to drive Jaycee to her first day of school. It's so nice to have his shop nearby!!

Shawnee

Kaylee--and I'm thinking she is EXCITED to go to school!

Kaylee---our fashion gal! It was funny---while we were school clothes shopping, Shawnee and Jaycee would have to "consult" with Kaylee before buying their clothes to see if SHE thought they looked good and were cute. Mom's opinion didn't count so much.

Jaycee, who really is liking the skinny jeans this year.

Draper Temple

We had several family names that we needed to do Baptisms for, but never could get all of our schedules together. Since Devin was now endowed, he could actually perform the baptisms--so we planned a Saturday and tried to go. Unfortunately, our temple, Mt. Timpanogas was not accepting appts that day, so we called Draper. They do baptisms on a walk in basis. As soon as Devin got home from work (he has a 5 hr break between his working hours), we hopped in the car and drove to Draper. Jaycee was fishing with Grandpa Berger, so it was the perfect opportunity since everyone else could participate. Kiera came with us. All the temple workers thought she was just one of our girls. The temple was beautiful and we felt the spirit as we did baptisms for our ancestors. It brought tears to my eyes to see Devin be able to baptize Kiera and Kaylee. Garrin baptized Shawnee and I. What a beautiful day!

The Rest of the Day!!

After going to the temple, Devin had to go back to work from 4-8pm. When he got home, Jaycee had a cake ready that she made. We had cake and ice cream.

I made them all sit still for an updated picture of the 4 of them....I want to get as many pictures as I can before Devin leaves on his mission. Devin, Jaycee, Kaylee and Shawnee

Everyone wanted to get a picture with the birthday boy---except for maybe Shawnee as I don't have a picture of her with Devin.

Devin's Endowment Day

Today, on Devin's 21st birthday, we were able to go to the Mt. Timpanogas Temple with Devin for him to receive his endowments. What a great present! I don't think there is anything better than attending the temple with your children...what joy we felt as he made covenants with our Heavenly Father. It was a very special day that we were able to share with our family.

Devin's Mission Call!

Well..the day has FINALLY arrived! Who knew that it took SOOOOO long to put your mission papers in??!! Devin picked up his papers the Sunday after he was ordained to be an elder....and it took 2 weeks to get into the dr's office for a checkup, and then another week for the TB test to be read and the dr to sign the papers. It's quite a bit of effort to fill out your life story (pretty much....lol) We thought they'd never be turned in. He turned them in , and then we found out that the brethren take July off for the most part....so that it might be awhile. He anxiously awaited the day they'd be in the mailbox!

On July 29th, Devin called the stake executive secretary to see if they had been mailed back yet. He told us that they had been accepted by church headquarters, but that the call would be issued the following Wed, mailed Thurs and we'd get it by Aug 11th. More waiting!

One of the counselors in our stake presidency is in our ward and he called Garrin on Friday the 30th and told him that they had been mailed out and would be here on Tues or Wed!!! I guess there are only 2 status' on the site for the stake presidency--in process or mailed. When the secretary checked...they were still in process so we assumed it would be another week. Shortly after he checked, the status must have changed to mailed. We were excited!! We decided NOT to tell Devin---just let him be surprised when they came a week earlier than he expected.

So....here we are....Wed....3:00......I get a phone call from Devin while I'm at work. Thinking he picked up the mail and had his mission call----I quickly answered it. No...instead he told me that the basement was flooded and to get home as quick as I could. I guess we had a horrific rain storm and it filled up the window wells. Devin stood up off his couch in his bedroom to leave for work and stepped into squishy carpet. He hadn't even heard it coming into his room. By the time I got home, they had already gutted his room and were working on Shawnee's. On the way I stopped at our mailbox and his papers were here!!! I drove up yelling they are HERE, they're here! Devin is in the driveway and says "what is here?" I showed him the envelope and he was SOOO surprised!

The chaos continued...my neighbor was here with her shop vac, and Garrin had come home to help, and then went to get a more powerful carpet extractor. Devin quickly called his girlfriend Kiera to see if she could come over, and I called my parents and siblings. We had to wait until 7pm to open it as Shawnee was at work. I'm not sure if I can say that all the water flooding was a good distraction while we waited or not! We pulled about 20 gallons of water out of Devin's carpets. Shawnee's ended up being a lot better, only reaching half of her room and extracted about 7 gallons out of her room.

The family started arriving about 10 minutes to 7 and we could hardly contain our excitement. I was SOOO nervous! Devin started thinking how bad it would be to go to Idaho (too much family to call it your mission)---and then I started worrying too! We didn't have to wait long....the family all arrived by about 7:10 and it was opened!

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON!!!! Devin admitted that he scanned the page first so he could see it before reading it to us! He was suppose to put a paper there and read it line by line...what a turkey! He leaves Oct 13th and we are so excited for him!
