Devin is Set Apart as a Missionary

We spent the day doing LOTS of errands...making sure Devin had EVERYTHING he needed. Devin wanted to eat at Texas Roadhouse one last time and we had looked forward to it for awhile. We invited Kiera and Gma and Gpa Berger to go with us. YUM. We ate a little early so that we could come home and change and visit for a few minutes before heading over for Devin to be set apart as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. About 8, Devin and Kiera said goodbye as she didn't go with us for the setting apart. I could tell that it was extremely difficult for him to do that. We left for the stake center by 8:20.

Each of the girls wanted their own separate picture with Devin...so here we go!

President Lew gave Devin his final interview and then we went into a room for his setting apart. President Lew talked to us as a family for a few minutes before, and made it VERY clear to Devin that he was to write his momma every week :) Bishop Estes also attended which was very nice. Garrin and Gpa Berger were able to stand in on the setting apart. It was at least 15-20 minutes and was very inspirational. All 3 girls were sniffing loudly during the whole thing. I was trying not to as I didn't want to add to the mix....but it was a beautiful setting apart and very emotional for all us girls. I wish I had thought to write some of it down during the blessing, but I didn't. I wasn't able to remember anything afterwards to record either. I do remember feeling very peaceful though. President Lew told Devin that he was now a missionary and would need someone to accompany him if he needed to leave the house until he went into the MTC the next day. I told President Lew that it wasn't a problem...I had been his shadow for DAYS now!

Afterwards, Gma and Gpa went home and his friend Nick Snow stopped by to say goodbye. Also Elders Thompson and Buer, who Devin had gotten to be friends with when he went on splits, stopped by to wish him well.
